According to different request of plastic parts,there are many plastic used in automotive interior plastic parts,such as PP,PE,PS,PMMA,PVC,PA,POM,PC,PC+ABS,PC+ASA,PA6+ABS,ABS,PBT etc.Take automobile armrest as example,armrest innerbox,base console,frame,pad and lid these parts mainly use PP+TD while clip use POM.
Conventionally, according to auto part size and plastic material, P20,718H,1.2738,1.2344,H13,S136,2316,NAK80,P20H,3CR13,4CR13 are applied in making auto plastic mould as mould core and cavity steel, S45C,S50C, S55C tempering steel used to build mould base. Preharden steel is applied asCore and cavity material, and request to be vacuum quenching treatment,to reach 48-55HRC,basically mould steel need more than 38HRC,it’s better to get 40-46HRC.In order to decrease mould making time and save mould making cost,normaly choose standard mouldbase.We usually purchase LKM,MISUMI,DME,HASCO brand mouldbase as per client requirment.Normally mould base have two types, direct gate and point gate. Direct gate type mould base also named two-plate mouldbase,point gate type mouldbase also named three-plate mouldbase,When point gate three plate mould apply hot runner system,then no need use three-plate structure.
Automotive plastic mould request highly on the machining and tooling. When mould steel purchase is ready, firstly, we arrange mould base and mold core&cavity go to CNC milling machining. Second, drille holes in the drilling machine, this process is mainly drilling cooling channel and screw holes. Third, mould base can go on CNC engraving machining, core and cavity need do the quenching and tempering treatment. After this treatment, core and cavity hardness will upto 48-52HRC,even upto 55HRC. This treatment help mould life lonely increasing. Mould life normally is 1-2 million shots. This quenching and tempering treatment report can be provided to clients. Forthly, mould machining come to CNC engraving tooling. After that the mould go to wire cutting and EDM machining. Certainly before EDM machining, electrode need to be ready. We usually pack electrode together with mould when mould packing for dispatch. After these all machining finish, we go ahead to do the mould assebling and matching job. Finally, mould can be ready for taken trial.
